PRIMARY PURPOSE: As an Apprentice Bartender, you will be responsible for assisting the bartender and maintaining the appearance of the bar. Position: Hourly, Full-Time Location: Gold Strike Casino MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of experience as an apprentice bartender working in a similar resort setting. Money handling experience. Experience working in a similar resort setting. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Ability to multi‐task and work well in a fast - paced, team‐oriented environment. Knowledgeable of menu items, including mixing and serving beverages, standard beverage recipes, preparation methods, glassware, garnishes, products, menu items, supplies, and equipment. Knowledge of health, safety, and sanitation regulations. Knowledgeable of computers and Point of Sale (POS) systems. Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal forms. Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts. WORKING CONDITIONS: Able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to 50 lbs. Able to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform tasks. *This is not intended to include every duty or responsibility of the job nor is it intended to be an all‐inclusive list of the skills and abilities required to do this job. This position may require strenuous physical activities and exposure to pipe, cigar, and/or cigarette smoking. An ability to work a flexible schedule, including extended hours, weekends, and holidays may also be required. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the bartender with the preparation of drinks, mixes, and garnishes. Maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of the bar area. Maintain sufficient stock of all items and products in designated work areas. Ensure proper setup, labeling, stocking, and delivery of alcohol, and non‐alcoholic beverages, supplies, glasses, paper products, garnishes, and ice. Clean equipment, tools, and supplies, polish glassware and ensure equipment is in working order. Perform opening and closing duties based on shift assignment. Promote and maintain the highest level of service to all guests while staying alert to their needs and responding effectively to guest inquiries. Resolve guest complaints within the scope of authority; otherwise, refer the matter to management, and notify the supervisor and/or Security of all unusual events, circumstances, missing items, or alleged theft. Perform other job‐related duties as requested.
