E.J. Prescott's Apprenticeship Program, the University of Prescott, is a paid, one-year apprenticeship program designed to help trainees become proficient in the following industries: Water, Wastewater, Stormwater, and Erosion Control. This program covers many aspects of Team EJP's operations. Team E.J. Prescott, Inc. (EJP) is a family-owned waterworks supply company. We distribute water, wastewater, stormwater, geotextile, and erosion control products in 30 locations across ten Northeast and Midwest states. We also have eight sister companies that provide fabrication and delivery services to our clients. We are one of the largest independently owned waterworks supply companies in the United States, and we pride ourselves on innovation and customer service. During the apprenticeship program, training will occur mostly in field locations, including manufacturing visits. There will be some classroom training as well. Topics include safety, service work, and other related industry tools. Willingness to travel is required. We pay students to learn, and qualified students are guaranteed a job at the end of the one-year program. EJP is in the following states: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana. Candidates who complete the program are assigned to a location in Vermont that best fits the individual students' gifts and talents, and how they relate to helping Team EJP grow. DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: · Pressure testing and chlorination of water mains · Pressure and vacuum testing of sanitary sewer mains and manholes · Polyethylene fusion services · Live taps and valve insertions · 24-hour emergency service · Repair of hydrants and valves · Water line leak location, pipeline, and valve locating · Manhole coring ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES: Safety Training OSHA 30 Hour Forklift training and certification DOT medical card training and certification Students will receive training (instruction and hands-on) on all aspects of our business Students will spend time training at different divisions to gain experience and knowledge POSITION COMPETENCIES / JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Must be 18 years old Pass Pre-Employment Checks Must have reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed) Willingness to travel throughout New England, New York, and the Midwest during training Must be reliable and punctual Physical requirements include frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs.
